Aren’t we assuming there was incompetence to begin with!! How often has Arsenal received favoured calls … win some lose some. Arsenal and Arteta deserve to be sanctioned because it filters down to grass roots level and we end up with obnoxious parents and Mgrs attacking ref’s who do not have protection…

They’ve got to protect people from finding out their dodgy business somehow. Code silence it is then.

Firstly, I fully support Liverpool’s statement that was made after the Liverpool-Spurs match.

However, I really have to wonder why The FA have only acted when Arsenal made a statement in support of their manager and did not do so when Liverpool did.

Liverpool’s statement was much stronger compared to Arsenal’s and challenged the integrity of the decision making. Arsenals statement is much weaker.

I really hope he clubs can get behind each other here and challenge this statement by the FA. Something needs to change with the officiating in the EPL and this FA statement is not it :)

Good. Your team got beaten. You lost. It happens. Refs do make mistakes, they are human, but so do players and managers.

In the end, the refs are bound to what can be seen and, with regards to offside and out of bounce, what can be proven. Even the var cannot overturn an AR with a maybe or a most likely. It has to be proven and the curve of the ball with a downward angle is very misleading.

In the end it is about respect for each other’s position and seriously, have you ever heard a ref give this kind of bullshit to a manager? No: that is what respect means. Looking to yourself before pointing out others and not doing this actually hurts on multiple levels.

  • it disrespects the game and all it’s participants. Even the ones that rightfully won.

  • it opens up a space for all to criticize refs on all levels; lowest youth, amateurs and professional play.

  • it is the main cause young refs leave the game causing an overall shortage and endangers overall quality

It has to stop somewhere and his is as good a place as any. Because no ref means no game. End of story. Managers, however, are not strictly necessary.
