Turning this to a monthly random discussion thread. The_Yaya is down and not really in the mood to create daily threads that have 2-5 posts each.

It was painfully obvious that the revolution lasted for like one month, and I’m in the forefront of the butt end of all the jokes.

Thank you for keeping the PH community alive here on lemmy kahit di malakas ang engagement. I’m considering using this same format sa communities na minomod ko, kasi basically 0 engagement din sa kanila

Buhayin si lemmy.ph, a monthly thread would be somewhat depressing in my opinion. But I indeed might be the minority, having actively avoided all things reddit since the fiasco. I don’t think I’ve opened any reddit link for a month or so now, the only time I see reddit is through screenshots lol.

I still go to Reddit at least every other day, albeit just as a casual reader and not a participant. It’s the only place where you can find answers to most questions, specifically obscure passions. Lemmy isn’t there yet.

Lemmy still has a ways to go nga, what will hurt them a bit when it comes to attractiong new users is yung Section 4.0.2 nilang inimpose a few weeks ago inb4 there's some specific nuance(s) talaga as to why

“She” is. Pero nagka-issue the last few days, coincidentally when yaya on Reddit also went down. I’ve been manually posting the RD threads during that downtime, which can be tiresome. Can’t be doing this every day every dawn.

thanks for the dedication. guess it cant be helped that the discussion here is not comparable to reddit because we still are a very tiny group.

the amount of material here is not as many but the garbage is not as widespread as well.

It’s been a very slow burn, but thanks for keeping PH on Lemmy alive. Don’t put too much pressure on yourself to bear the weight of the community’s longevity, though. Just as long as may pwede kaming puntahang alternative PH online community, okay na yun.

At the moment, mas okay nga yung monthly thread until we hit a certain volume.

More BS sa kabila: Tax the freelancers daw.

Pano mo itatax mga freelancers when most of them barely have a stable job/income, heck even a job? Kung meron man, it’s below the annual tax threshold. Wala rin silang benefits that regular employees have like life insurance, HMO, 13/14th month pay, bonuses, allowances to cover their electricity/internet/aircon, and so on. And some freelancers actually file their taxes, otherwise they lose out on visa and other perks that require an ITR.

Masama lang loob mo kasi nakakakita ka nagpopost sa social media na freelancer kuno making this and that when they’re either lying or not representative of the freelancer industry as a whole.

Ang dapat tina-tax viciously are the top 1%. Wag ka maging mouthpiece para sa mga mayayaman by blabbering yet another solution that creeps on your fellow poor Filipino.

Independent content creators are barely making a minimum wage in a day. Maswerte lang kapag may kumuhang talent agency sa mga iyan o may mag-sponsor na NordVPN, pero uso ba yan dito sa Pinas (not). BIR thought having a presence online made millions. #TaxTheRich

Ang cringe talaga sa kabila lol

Yup, porke nakakita sila isang influencer na nagyayabang ng 5million/day, may sweeping generalization na kaagad to tax the YouTubers. Content creators that make the big bucks are independently wealthy to begin with or celebrities or have big jugs/blessed with gluta drips by default. Mangilan-ngilan lang yung “yumaman” dahil sa YouTube, maybe even barely 0.3%.

Those who do make some money, it’s about equivalent to the monthly salary of a BPO worker… and again, wala sila benefits so that money isn’t even as high as you think.

most content creators have day jobs. their internet lives are just for hobby and/or entertainment purposes. masses took their opinions personally, and it’s depressing to witness the entertainment industry became the staple of real world pov.

Of course, hindi natin sinasabi na tama ginagawa nila or kinukunsinte natin. We’re just saying na there’s a reason behind it and by regurgitating this same old question again and again as well as agreeing with the legislators pitching “No Parking, No Car” bills, you are unwittingly supporting the uncreative and inutile politicos. Isama mo na rin mga wealthy who don’t have these problems because they can hoard vehicles to not be inconvenienced by whatever traffic management schemes concocted.

as time goes by, parami nang parami ang mga sasakyan to the point matatagalan ang pagpasok ng isang kotse sa highway na used to be 30 secs tops waiting lang, ngayon more than a minute or two na, minsan five. i resent our being car culture,

This circles back to the government. Bad transport breeds motorcycles and cars. Number coding schemes lead to more cars. Giving exemptions to those with purchasing power equals more cars, albeit better than fossil fuels I guess.

our government let this to happen for decades. it’s disgusting. why we can’t have limit of car ownership for every household? why our transport system is so limited? why we don’t have proper parking spaces? are our roads future-proof?
