Anon should consider all the people who get divorced in their 20s and remarry in their 30s or 40s. There are TONS of them.

If you’re looking for an excuse to give up on love, “I’m too old” is actually a pretty bad one.

“People are bigoted against me” is a pretty good one though, oof.

Have a friend like this, approaching 30 if it matters, they got a cat and it made their lives less lonely and tolerable.

Dating in one’s thirties is way better for actually finding a long term partner in my experience. More people know what they do or don’t want and are willing to cut to the important stuff like common goals and values.

Agreed. I felt like I’d never meet anyone I was compatible with all throughout my 20’s, and spent the last 3 years of them resigned to the fact that I was just going to be alone for the rest of my life.

Then I met someone in my early 30’s. It’s like we’d known each other our entire lives. Our goals are the same, our values match, we make each other laugh, and it is the first relationship I’ve ever been in where I can truly be myself without masking in some way. The years have flown by, and we still get excited to see each other at the end of the day.

Everyone just needs time to figure out what they want in life, and that seems to happen for a lot of people in their 30’s.

Leaving the house, making friends, and getting involved in a community

Also not using a slur to refer to yourself really helps especially when the targets of that slur are a major potential dating pool for oneself

I have a friend who (for various reasons) seems to have a much worse chance at a happy love life. To me, this just seems like Anon is wallowing in self pity.
