Never used Usenet before, so I’m not sure what else I need.
You will want a download client - I prefer SABnzbd. You might want automators like sonarr, radarr. Someone will come along with a helpful start-to-finish guide for a complete automation setup. I set mine up so long ago I can’t recall what workflow I used.
Helpful how to…
Could you elaborate on how you set up SABnzbd with yunohost? There’s no app for SABnzbd on yunohost, so did you just install it as you would on ubuntu server? (apt-get install blah blah)
I have jellyfin working and would like to get sonarr operational, but now sure how to get SABnzbd up and going.
I installed the docker container using docker-compose and then installed Redirect in YunoHost, which allows you to map a domain (subdomain or “domain/[something]”) to a port, in this case the port of SABnzbd’s web ui. You can install Redirect as many times as you want btw, I’ve set separate subdomains for SABnzbd and qBittorrent that way. I can also give you the exact settings and docker-compose file if you want.
Did you pay for your backbone as well? Between that and slug, I echo the other comment for the nzb reader they mentioned. That is my Usenet stack as well.
And Mullvad VPN even though it’s overkill, I usually don’t download without it on.
I haven’t paid for a backbone yet. I was considering Eweka but I haven’t pulled the trigger yet.
Frugal Usenet was very anonymous to do; throwaway mail and Bitcoin if you’re into that. I do not have experience with Eweka.
get frugal usenet, install SabNZB as your downloader. download NZbs for what you want from drunkenslug, load NZB into SabNZB and it will download from the frugal servers. sometimes things are missing depending on what you are after so if that happens move on or find a repost. once you master the manual way you can set up automation with sonarr and what not.
