Hey everyone, I just got a Dell R540 for my homelab and it’s louder than what I would like. I read that you can adjust the fans through ipmi but as I did more research I found out that Dell patched out the commands on iDrac versions newer than 3.30.30.30

So, is it possible to downgrade from version 7.00.00.00 to 3.30.30.30 without bricking my system? Has anyone done this? It is running the latest BIOS as well. (2.19.1)

If noise is a concern, I wouldn’t suggest buying data center rack servers.

Screw dell and the X40, the cooling profile makes no sense.

Thanks Dell, I really need my cpus to be at 27c…

Oh you put in a 50w single slot GPU… let’s ramp your fans up to 43%…
