Not happy with the hyper capitalist dystopia of the 80’s, capitalists wouldn’t even let the dead rest in peace without a price. The next logical step is using AI to invade heaven/hell and privatize their services.

You have no idea until you just replace me in life. So many dead people, so much money I’ve had to spend on it. Then, the explanations to others about how the money was spent on funeral costs, to people you thought were in your circle of trust. Some of your closest family members, smited by the last will and testament that left them nothing with a pre-paid funeral shall have at it with the pre-paid funeral home. Because nothing says love more than getting rich from loving a dead person.

It’s a movie about starting a business, a business which evicts undesirable people. The ghostbusters are basically sheriff’s deputies who evict impoverished tenants. The film even comes with a mysterious threat from the east that is trying to organize the tenants. Still love it though, I’m sorry to say.

Holy crap, another interesting interpretation. So, you’re in favor of the dead coming back to the living world as dead people to do what with the means of production? Further alienate the living from it or just try to take control of it to resurrect your fellow dead people?

Don’t forget about casting the EPA itself as one of the villains.

Walter Peck did nothing wrong.

That’s an interesting interpretation. It also has a story about work and how working and being a worker in a capitalist world is dangerous. Not much monetary compensation for saving the city from the mega poltergeist.
