It’s too early to write Mingo, obviously. And he has had 2 games with 50 yards receiving. But that’s it. No TD’s. Other rookie WR’s are beginning to take off. And then there’s Marshall who is only seeing a 50% snap share with an 11% target rate.

We’re all talking about what it took for Carolina to get Young, but it’s also worth noting in the last 3 drafts, the Panthers have used a 39th, 94th, and 59th overall picks on Mingo, QB Matt Corral, and Marshall Jr. Yikes.

I guess ultimately my question is what do you think the ceiling for these WR would be in a different system? Or do you just think they were overdrafted to begin with?

Mingo is a freaking rookie. It took Devontae Adams three years to make an impact.

Additionally, both these guys have either a rookie QB on an awful roster as a showcase, or in TMJ’s case have had multiple QBs and coaches.

Give them a moment for pity’s sake.

As someone who has been hard on Mingo, you’re probably right.

It’s thought when you occasionally just see him be lazy on his route and sort of give up. Not always obviously, but been a few times

Both. Busts but also you’re often busted by the situation you’re drafted into

At this point, wait until next season to see. The pathers have issues.

I didnt evaluate TMJ at LSU but Mingo was a BAD prospect, and this summer in the dynasty sub I was telling people that it no exaggeration was probably the worst pick in the draft especially considering the WRs they took him over. He was an uber athlete in college but got outproduced by 2 UDFAs in 2021 and 2022 in Drummond and Heath. Sub 40 Reception Perception percentiles against Man, Zone, and Press. People really tried to talk themselves into the size and athleticism. The only way I would’ve been excited about him is if he converted to TE.

Malik Heath has been a nice surprise and has worked his way up to WR5 on the Packers depth chart and seems to have taken over the physical blocking WR type role that Allen Lazard used to provide. He’s not showing up in the stats much but the coaches clearly like him and we’ve seen him pancake guys and block them all the way out of bounds. Not an elite athlete but great effort
