Hello,

I got WiFi security camera from China, it worked fine for few months.

Now the colors are messed up, I think they are inverted, there is no option in settings for inverting colors, I did reset the camera, but it didn’t work. I did firmware update and neither did it work.

Camera model: JA-C10CS

What could have caused this?

P.S. before you ask, I did contact manufacturer and they are offering replacement, but I have to send camera back and since I ordered using freight forwarder, sending it back is more expensive than it’s worth.

Those are not worth returning or repairing. Just replace it. If you want to try a repair, I’d suggest /r/diyelectronics or similar, but it will cost way more to fix than a quality new camera most certainly.

I like ReoLink cameras for home use.

No matter what you choose, be aware of security implications for connecting cameras on any trusted network. Always isolate them.

I like this camera, because it doesn’t even offer cloud recording, so I’m not annoyed by that popup some other apps have I have used before.

I don’t really care that much about this camera, I was just curious what could have caused this, I have never seen colors messed up like this.

The reolink cameras dont have popups and not even sure about cloud services, although I have not really looked into them. I have over 20 at my house and just record locally

Did you try contacting the seller or the manufacturer?

Is this sarcasm or did you not read my post?

So why are you asking us, if even the manufacturer can’t fix it? $20 camera is disposable. Nothing to think about. Replace with something better.

Buy a better one. Preferably wired.

Well, this thing was about 20 bucks and was doing its job perfectly fine until colors got messed up, investing in an expensive setup isn’t an option for this situation.

If you have not done a factory reset, do it. If that did not fix the issue, then the sensor or firmware is messed up and not worth fixing. If it is that cheap, get a new one. Since you have this experience, getting the exact same model could have the same issue later on.

The exact same model is actually discontinued, but the brand has available other models. I have tried to look through comments (listing I bought this camera from is still up and there are thousands of comments) but haven’t seen anyone else commenting about the same issue 🤷
