This question have may been asked a few times but I am looking for clarification for my situation. I recently bought a Canon RF 24-70 f2.8 lens. I couldn’t find any clear instructions on how to clean the lens.

Some people say you can use isopropyl alcohol and some say you should never do that. Some articles say you should use lens wipes and some say to stay away from it. I called Canon and they said to use a microfiber cloth and distilled water only if there is a stubborn smudge.

The consensus online seems to be the following order when it comes to clearing lens:

  1. Use a rocket style blower.
  2. Use a microfiber cloth.
  3. Use a wipe or a cleaner ???

I am unsure for #3, I found the following information for the most popular solutions. What do the pros use? Do any of these solutions damage the coatings on the lens ?

Pancro cleaner seems to be isopropyl based - Click here for link

VSGO cleaner seems to be ultrapure water based - Click here for link

ZEISS wipes seems to be Ethanol based - Click here for link
