I am taking over duties of photography for Santa Photos at a community holiday party this year and need advice on how to integrate my camera, laptop, and any software to send people their photos. The previous person would take a bunch of photos, put the memory card in a printer, and hit print all (on 5*7 paper) and then try and distribute them the next day… But that sounds so old school and I figure there’s got to be a better way. Plus, people want a digital file so they can save/share it.

I am an experienced portrait photographer, just have never done an indoor “studio” shoot, ie tethered shooting with the need to send the image out within a minute of taking the photos. What I’d ideally like to do is have people enter their contact information in a tablet/laptop before getting their photo taken, then as soon as it’s taken there is some kind of “holiday filter” that says the event name and year applies to the image (think like a Snapchat geofilter), and then it’s able to be sent to them via email.

Does anybody know a way to go about doing this or what software would be recommended? For reference, I shoot with Sony bodies and have a PC laptop and also a newish iPad.

Thanks!

Look at Headshot Tools. It will do pretty much everything you’ve described. You’ll need to apply your holiday overlay before uploading them, which you can do easily in Capture One.

A place to politely discuss the tools, technique and culture of photography.

This is not a good place to simply share cool photos/videos or promote your own work and projects, but rather a place to discuss photography as an art and post things that would be of interest to other photographers.
