I used to use lightroom about 8 years ago, particularly making use of film/vintage camera presets. Having been doing videography most recently using davinci resolve I’ve not kept up with photo editing.

Now I’m shooting photos again I can see there is an abundance of software available. Is lightroom still king or are there better alternatives out there?

My experience, Lightroom still reigns supreme, but I’ve read decent things about On1. Luminarie Neo also exists, but it’s not as well received.

Alternatively if you want to try something FOSS, there’s Darktable, but I found it very sluggish & clunky when I tried it previously.

It’s worth noting, the Adobe Photography Plan @$10/mo is a pretty good deal, especially if you want to subscribe as needed, if you’re not shooting super regularly.

A place to politely discuss the tools, technique and culture of photography.

This is not a good place to simply share cool photos/videos or promote your own work and projects, but rather a place to discuss photography as an art and post things that would be of interest to other photographers.
