The narrative is far beyond “imperialist Venezuela”. Exxon is claiming oil reserves within Venezuelan maritime borders, its neighbour is an American puppet regime, and America is looking to establish a military base right next door.
Last but not least, Venezuela is being forced to accept opaque “electoral reforms” in return for an easing of sanctions.
Then why didn’t they do so earlier in 2011 when they had a good enough economy to support this invasion? Why wait until now when they’re poor AF and can’t logistically support this operation?
Why annex more oil reserves when they can’t extract oil from the ones they’ve got?
The only explanation for a buildup of military force is in response to and in defence of a buildup of American military force.
