I’m about 5 hours in. I’ve 100%’d the opening stage and I just completed my first night mission. I’m loving it so far but have forced myself to take a break. It’s been 10 years since Pikmin 3. I really need to savor this.
I’m enjoying it now, but the tutorial and day 1 were a struggle. The hand-holding was unbearable to me. You get dialogue and tutorial every 5 seconds of gameplay 😭 It was definitely not fun, and I kept wishing there was a “leave me alone” mode. I don’t remember if Pikmin 3 had this much hand-holding. But I pushed through it and now it’s fun. I haven’t played that many hours yet, but it seems quite fun so far. I’ll play more during the weekend and hopefully forget about how annoyed I felt during the first hour or so of playing it.
Fiancé has been paying it - seems really nice looking, but the beginning seems very frustrating with how much the game stops you to tutorialize. The lack of being able to swing the pikmin to attack/pick up things is also unfortunate.
Really enjoying it so far - about an hour of tutorial, then straight into it. Cleared the first area, and now I have theories about the leafling (not gonna elaborate because I dunno how to spoiler tag on Lemmy) and a deep love of everything Oatchi represents
It’s my first Pikmin that I really gave a proper go.
So far I don’t understand how you can be a diehard Pikmin fan.
To me, all it has got is great animations and graphics, but the gameplay is mind numbingly easy and lacks variety, even after 2 hours.
I believe it is a great kids game with it’s style and easy to pick up gameplay, but it doesn’t hold my attention for long.
Definitely will be going back to Zelda or Persona 5 where it felt effortless to put 150 hours into between the both of them so far.
Didn’t get it. Still chugging through TOTK
