I feel like if theres this much to say about South Park and transphobia, write an article.
Im going to assume this follows the standard structure of just straight up showing clips at length then commenting on it, and I dont think that forcing people to see extensive transphobia without an effective way of opting out of it(while still getting the actual analytical content) is a good way to discuss something like this.

lily does a better job than that. it’s relatively low on clips, even.

some of us can’t read
Alright you got me there, I was hedging my bets on my assumption that there was no way someone could just talk about South Park transphobia for almost 3 hours, like surely this is a clip show video actually.
What?!?! I was told by a very large brained person on this very board that south park was actually not transphobic at all!!
I love when you catty bitches @ somebody for an arguement that happened three days ago, favorite hexbear feature
Off-topic but her One Piece video was pretty interesting. There’s an empty gap of lgbt content creators covering that aspect of One Piece.
Strangely enough, Inazuma always gets left out of the conversation. They appeared at the same time as Ivankov and the offensive depictions of the newkama. Inazuma by contrast is probably one of the best gender-fluid characters in fiction that isn’t depicted as a joke.
thought the one piece ep was interesting as well. it’s also interesting the extent to which that particular bit is an invention of the anime specifically. which isn’t to clear oda for his crude drawings, but the cover stories are significantly less in the manga than how they got adapted in the toei animation.
i agree that inazuma is one of the most interesting characters in this regard. it’s clear that it’s a private part of inazuma’s life and other characters are respectful of that.
i’m very curious to see what people think of one of the revolutionary army leaders. i don’t feel like i’m qualified to have a take about morley, but i do think essentially oda’s got the idea that revolutionary people are weirdos, but that’s good in his book?
I noticed that too. The anime took the gag and went full transphobic with it. There are still problematic aspects in the manga but they’re not as offensive as what the anime depicts.
He’s not wrong in thinking revolutionary people are weirdos. Leftists tend to think outside the mindset that the majority are more than happy to accept. That usually leads to us being viewed as odd.
Eric Cartman in particular has done irreperable damage to the western psyche. For all of their faults, the folks at South Park at least attempted to write Eric Cartman as a fucking loser. Unfortunately, the vast majority of people identified with him, because all the traits that made him a loser were seen as admirable.
Kyle went from someone rightfully but indirectly telling white Americans to shut the fuck up into a whiny SJW karen getting offended by epic based Cartman.
in the early seasons, the creators of the show did an alright job at making a character thats just an annoying, whiny little brat. but yeah, a large portion of americans like whiny brats and are that themselves, so they saw an element of themselves in eric cartman and his “screw you guys, i’m going home” catchphrase and overall attitude is basically the ideology of apathetic, self-centered americans. so i think maybe the creators did too good of a job making cartman an utterly horrible person, since so many chuds began self-identifying with him.
