Like 2 days ago my partner listened to that TrueAnon where Liz is obsessed with that phrase (and made me listen to the last little bit) and now we just keep saying “grok’s woke” to each other, just repeatedly. It’s very silly. It’s like buttmogging zoomers all over again, I’ll never be able to get it out of my head

Grok is a term from Stranger in Strange Land (Heinlein) , the reason coders and programmers started using is they’re all nerds.

Grok isnt specifically from or for old programmers, it’s mainly old slang from nerds from the 60’s. It hails from Stranger in a Strange Land a sci-fi book written by Heinlein in 61’.
Tbh, I think his understanding of Grok probably comes from the book. While Heinlein was a brilliant writer… He was also a rabid libertarian, and I can see some aspects of his writings resonating with Elon.
