Hello everyone,
I’m using Vector Magic (the desktop version) to transform and simplfy designs and graphics and then embroidery them with a sewing machine.
I was wandering - just for curiosity - if is there any alternative of Vector Magic? The Desktop version works only with Windows and not on Linux.
Thanks in advance
Hey! I’m not sure if this is exactly what your are looking for, but I use Inkscape for all my vector graphics needs. It does have a trace function to help convert raster images into vector, which might help. And you can do CTRL+L to simplify it. I have used it for creating SVGs for a vynal cutter, which might be similar to what you are doing? I’ve used it on Linux, Mac and Windows without much issue… but there might be a little learning curve.
Good luck!
I don’t use such a machine myself, but those are tools which I would turn to if I had :
The first one is just a library (i.e. building blocks), while the second looks more like a complete solution - based on Linux’ most used vector software Inkscape.
I don’t think this is exactly what you‘re looking for, but for cross stitch patterns, KXStitch can import images and create simplified designs with a reduced number of colours and cells/pixels. The KXStitch handbook gives a nice overview of all the features.
