I currently have a ring doorbell that I pay a yearly fee for but I want to get away from Amazon and a subscription fee. I would prefer if it used the Wi-Fi and it was able to connect with my house doorbell. Edit: I’d also like to add that I would like it to have the ability to stream and record video.
Reolink has a wifi video doorbell that works great, it has an integration with Home Assistant but also with Frigate. I use Frigate personally, since it’s better at person detection and I can record directly to my server. If you don’t use Frigate, you can record to an SD card that you slot into the back of the doorbell.
4th vote for Reolink, with one caveat: the live video feed takes several minutes to load in home assistant for me, but is pretty instant when viewing through the Reolink app. I’ve spent several evenings trying to get it to load faster without luck, so for now I’m content just using the Reolink app.
Unifi protect doorbell, but I do believe you need a unifi protect instance in order to record
Do they have a wireless one? I’ve only ever seen wired options but don’t know their product line super well
They do but I don’t know if it’s available on their official store anymore. It’s just called the G4 Doorbell rather than the G4 pro
It still needs to be wired. Just not ethernet. It plugs into your doorbell low voltage wiring
Reolink all the way
It has two way audio AFAIK https://m.reolink.com/product/reolink-video-doorbell/
I used to have a Ring and became concerned about privacy once Amazon took over. Worse, all it used to capture was delivery people’s backs - by the time it would see motion the action was almost over. That’s when it captured anything at all - it used to miss a lot.
Reolink doesn’t require any Internet access - even for initial setup. People detection works great with Frigate and you can tell it to start recording before motion is detected so you don’t miss anything.
Full disclosure, it does take some fiddling to get it working reliably. I still don’t have 2 way audio working.
I’m all too familiar with spending countless hours trying to get things to work so that shouldn’t be a problem.
I have an amcrest one and it works great with frigate over RTSP. I also blocked it’s internet access and firewalled it on my local network so it can’t phone home.
