The current mod is the former admin and no longer active here. Does anyone want to take over as mod, or does anyone want to nominate anyone?

update: made @TruckBC@lemmy.ca mod! thanks!

I’d prefer not to but if no one else volunteers I will do it until we can build up enough of a community that I can pass it off.

i’ll maybe wait another day or two and if no else volunteers then you’ve got the job, haha. but yes, if there ever is someone else who wants to do it, then you are free to pick whoever you want to take over!

Wonderful. It makes me glad to know we’re gathering enough of a thing together here that people find value in taking part.

I’m trying to sort out how to get the word out effectively that I’m taking care of this community as well as /c/Vancouver.

I think that will set off a good pile of migration.

I would be more than happy to take this community on as well as any other communities that need active mods.

I have extensive experience moderating on Reddit, including r/BritishColumbia until the current head mod there removed the whole team as we wouldn’t tolerate his bigotry. The whole team that was removed continues to be in communication and work together on various things and can join me as the community here grows if needed.

I also run r/NiceVancouver and r/ADHD_BritishColumbia as well as some smaller ones at this point but those will migrate to Lemmy or another platform eventually.

@smorks I’ll also reach out to you in private.

As a Reddit Refugee, all I have to ask is, would Doug’s Norco Indie or a Ducknana have a place in the new banner?

Whatever the community wants has a place in the banner. (If Lemmy even has banners? I’m brand new to Lemmy.)

My stance on community moderation has always been that it should be democratic within the moderation team, but also within the community with the mod team actively seeking input and feedback from the users.

I’d be interested in doing so. What’s the average number of comments and good/crap ratio currently?

I’ve already given mod to @TruckBC@lemmy.ca, so you can check with them if they want help? Thanks, though! I’ll update and lock this post.
