I won’t be in town this weekend but I was curious to see what resale tickets were going for since Ohtani and the Angels are visiting. I was surprised to see that the cheapest pair of tickets for Friday’s game on Stubhub and Seatgeek were $200!

I’m assuming that this is due to the following:

  1. Ohtani is the confirmed starting pitcher for the Angels
  2. This is the last series that the Angels and Ohtani (assuming he isn’t traded to a team that the Jays play at home later) will be in Toronto
  3. There’s a giveaway promo that day
  4. It’s a weekend game as opposed to a weekday
  5. Both teams are competitive and are in the Wild Card race

Surely this must be up there as one of the most expensive regular season games ever to attend? At least ignoring late September games where a postseason berth is on the line.

If I was closer to Toronto, these are definitely the types of games I’d want to go to as the starters for a series are announced. Ohtani is must watch baseball.

I agree with your whole list, except part of #2: I don’t think the Angels outside of Ohtani and Trout are a big attraction in Toronto

To add to it (edit: the craziness, that is): The Angels got rained out in Detroit last night, and Ohtani’s start has now been pushed to Thursday (edit: so he won’t pitch in the Toronto series at all or Saturday (I can’t remember which), but it’s not Friday any longer)
