Tucked into last month’s deal to raise the debt ceiling and avoid default was a provision Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., insisted on in exchange for his support. In explicit terms, Congress not only approved the Mountain Valley Pipeline, but “Section 234” of the debt ceiling bill also took away the ability of federal courts to hear any remaining challenges to it.

Of course he did.

So Congress can pass a Law and say it’s above Judicial review?

That’s not how it works.

Oh that’s wonderful, Democrats push for the Keystone XL pipeline to get axed because Trump wanted it and then they do this crap, great

I mean now we have Greta Thunberg getting arrested for protesting while just some years ago she was literally speaking at the damn UN

I’m pretty sure one person does not represent all of the Democratic Congress people.

But one person in the Democratic party still screwed over the environment because Joe Manchin gets the most kickbacks from Oil companies, so it’s a blow to all of us Democrats regardless and does nothing to help the party or this country

Not “they”. “He.” I’m sure he pissed a lot of Dems off in the process, but that’s what happens when you have a razor-thin majority and unified, intransigent opposition. Sometimes you need the support of even the most backwards-thinking know-nothings.

Wrong. We wanted kxl cancelled long before trump came along. Why do we want to have the risk of a pipeline leal so Canada can export their oil in Texas?
