Just to jumpstart this community! Which JRPGs have you been playing this past week?

I have been enjoying Trails of Cold Steel II. Although I find CS weaker than Sky/Zero/Azure, I am loving the plot. Not sure If I should play CSIII right after I finish this one, or I risk burnout (I played CSI 2 years ago).

I was in the process of playing Persona 5 Royal on PC, and then Tears of the Kingdom launched.

I’m just slightly north of 100 hours of playtime in Tears, but once I finish this game I’ll work on Persona 5 again.

So far, I love Persona 5. It’s an interesting game, has my attention, and is my first entry into the Persona series. Some of the story beats are a bit weak in this game, but I appreciated the opening and the first main quest. I’m on a slightly weaker plotline at this point, so I’m curious to see where the rest of the game takes me. After I finish it, I’ll sit down and have my post-mortem to reflect on this game and see if it’ll be a top tier in my book, and if I’ll explore the other games in the series next.

However, I have a backlog of Tales Of games to play, plus Trails Of (which seems to have caught my attention, too, but never played).

Most recent game I finished was Octopath Traveler 2. I rarely have time for games these days so it’s a small miracle I finished it.

I started FFXVI but I’m not into all the violence and GoT type stuff, so I’ve backed away unfortunately. I’m glad it exists and I’m happy it’s doing well. As a FFXIV player I’m definitely happy for YoshiP.

Speaking of which, I’ll be going to Fanfest later this month. I haven’t played for realsies in a hot minute but I’m still looking forward to it™.

I’ve been playing the Mysterious Arc of the Atelier series. It’s mostly very chill experience, and it can just be you, your alchemy pot, and a notebook. The depth of story of the Atelier series is definitely far shallower from that of Trails (which I’ve finished up till CS4, and am waiting for Reverie, which comes out in about 2 days from now!), but it holds up enough as a more relaxing, simple (imo too simple), and enough to get players to follow along.

I’m about halfway through Trails in the Sky The Third. It’s been really fun going through this trilogy. I’m surprised it didn’t catch my attention when it first released.
