3DownNation posted another article looking at the 2 most usable fields in Halifax. The future of a CFL team in Atlantic Canada looks pretty bleak, unfortunately. It’d require a massive investment, and the new rugby team in Halifax probably dissuades investors more than it encourages them (since it’s competition). Huskies Stadium (of St Mary’s University) seems like the most viable field, but the university is not going to 100% finance a CFL team, nor is another group going to 100% finance a team on land owned by someone else with great restrictions on development. (For those that don’t know, the SMU campus is pretty cozy, and it’s surrounded by a mostly residential area, at least some of which is historically protected.) CFL games on university campus also raise university security concerns. If SMU (who takes their own football program very seriously) and an external investment group were to partner in bringing a CFL team to Huskies Stadium, that might work. Repurposing some nearby land for parking and restaurants, etc., would probably be needed. Creating facilities that serve 2 or 3 purposes (for CFL, for students, for locals in south Halifax) would probably make the mot sense
