Now this is taking the piss
When I was overwriting all my posts with the Power delete suite script, i got many error 503 errors
Btw, as it’s written in the fine print, if you delete your reddit account, all your posts and comments aren’t deleted and they will keep them forever with no option to delete them anymore
Need to overwrite before deleting
Even if you overwrite before deleting, I would assume reddit will keep the original message.
I did it not even half an hour ago and didn’t get any errors. I have only my main account left. One last account before I leave for good. I’m also new to that script/tool so maybe I made a mistake? But then again it’s pretty straightforward.
GDPR is wrapped around personal information specifically related to identifying someone. Well it’s possible to have posts that can demanded to be taken down by GDPR the vast majority of the stuff on Reddit is not applicable.
There’s a post on this link specifically talking about the part of the legal code that considers this
I fail to see the issue
If you are in the EU, you should be able to force them to delete your account by filing a GDPR request.
Just deleted my account without any problems. Deleted all posts/comments via Redact before of course…
Is there an app that can automatically gather every post & comment, later store this offline? Then i delite it on their servers with my account.
PowerDeleteSuit does exactly what you need.
PSA first save your comment and post history then overwrite your posts first and wait a day, so the reddit history database only contains the garbage you entered. Unfortunate I missed it.
I wanna know if there’s a way to sell an account to spammers?
Yep, you can sell reddit accounts here:
Not sure how I’d value mine, I can’t see any comparable ones. But then again my main is over 16 years old so has lots of karma, awards, membership to invite only subs with high profile users, mod permissions etc.
I suspect it’s diminishing returns once you get past a certain account age and karma count if it’s being used to spam or scam. Tempted to sell up and just draw a line under it though, it would feel dirty contributing to reddit after the way they’ve treated the people who actually generate value for them.
