Absolute dog shit misleading headline as usual, but the findings are pretty predictable.

When looking at individuals with left leaning beliefs, those who are higher in narcissistic and psychopathic traits also tend to be more antiheirarchical and politically violent.

The authors of this study have written a bunch of other similar studies where they find narcissistic individuals are more likely to be involved in activism of all kinds.

From their own conclusion of their paper:

Also, with the dark-ego-vehicle principle, our research provides a possible explanation for the psychological mechanisms driving some individuals to participate in political activism independently of their political orientation

Emphasis mine. They clearly state it has nothing to do with a person’s political ideology. Narcissistic people tend to be more involved in activism and protests, regardless if it’s left or right leaning.

Rebellious would-be revolutionary movements of all kinds are susceptible to corruption by narcissistic elements as narcissistic personalities thrive in chaotic settings. Suggesting this is a weakness specific to or predictive of “Fight the power. Take the power back.” type movements is disingenuous and blatant undermining of community organization and action.

This headline is bullshit. The whole study, while cautioning against a valid concern, isn’t telling organizers anything they don’t already know and is presented in a manner showing clear bias, intending to undermine organizers efforts and dissuade involvement in grass-roots left-wing action.
