Well, yeah, hello! I’m new here, just created my account, i have experience on the fediverse but lemmy is still pretty new to me. I don’t really know if i should be posting this here, sorry if not, but i cant think of somewhere that looks much better, but anyway i wanted to make a little question, like, the classic thing with android apps, i know it’s everything on early development but like, after creating this account i was going to login on jeroba on my phone, but it said the instance needed to be at least on lemmy 0.18 in order to login there, i get that, but majority of instances don’t seem to have updated yet too soo… what are all you guys doing while the update isn’t here yet? i tried another app here (lemmur) but it couldn’t even recognize the existence of this instance so whatever. Well, what i wanted to know as i said was what are y’all doing, just using the web version, or maybe there is some other app that still works on 0.17.4?

Thanks for reading! :)

Sh.ItJust.works is now on 0.18.0, for what it’s worth. Our admin is awesome.

Yeah, it was super fast! Login works in the latest version of jerboa now but using the website still kind of more efficient, app is still pretty buggy, mainly when writing posts, it weirdly keeps deleting characters on the beginning of the word when i try to delete the last one, it’s kinda hard to explain but it’s like: I’m writing: “a example”, then i want to delete the “e” in the end of the word, when i do that it will actually delete the space before the example word too, leaving me with: “aexampl” I think that’s more or less what happens

Wait, maybe it’s something with the F-droid version? Let me test the google play one, had forgotten to test that

Oh, just noticed the name is Jerboa not “Jeroba” sorry there haha

Idk but I logged in on an older version and it didn’t log me out so maybe downgrade it then upgrade it? (Edit: seems like I’m still on 0.33)

Ok, thank you!

Voice over quills? I don’t recognize that name, and I’m no one famous so I’m pretty sure I’m not that person, sorry. I’m just a little normal Quill

It’s fine, after a quick search i found out bout that person, and yup, I’m not her! haha

Anyway, so that’s why Lemmur seemed so broken! And i tried thunder too, but it also didn’t work. I found an app here that makes using the web version as a client lots more convenient tho so i guess I’ll just stick with it for now, till the apps mature more and all, only disadvantage is no notifications, but it’s fine. Well, thanks for the info and help!

I never realized how many people use mobile apps. I always assumed everyone was using desktop browsers

I used to use reddit almost exclusively on mobile. So far I use lemmy exclusively on my browser and I’m going to try to avoid installing a mobile app entirely, for personal productivity reasons.
