Arrowhead has been curating the game with a Game Master named Joel. Everyone thank Joel for giving our missions that human touch.

There have been some sudden moments where maybe one planet was too easy or one was too hard and [Joel] had to get up in the middle of the night.

I laughed out loud that they woke this poor dude up in the middle of the night. Like how did that conversation go? “Joel! EMERGENCY! POPLI IX is too hard! Wake up and fix it!”

Jokes aside, I think it’s awesome they have a game director who can influence the story in real-time to keep things interesting.

I have always been hoping for an mmo where the devs in real time control the story and respond on the fly to player actions or planed reactions. I hear tales of emergent story telling only in ultimate online and eve online. I am interested in where this takes hell divers 2

Exited, no… Super exited where this will take us.

I just hope they fix the armor rating before the war goes nuts.

Overall, not per-game.

Which might’ve explained the queues.

Okay let me make sure my tinfoil hat is properly fitted….

This game has a root kit for anti cheat in a co op game. Everyone talks about it on day one, then goes “oh but its a good game so we dont care anymore”. Then they announce there is a guy employed specifically to manipulate players games as they play.

This doesn’t set off any major alarm bells for anyone? Has this practice just been normalized by one fucking game??

You think updating an online game should set off major alarm bells?

Obviously not you pleb. He is clearly pointing out the fact that having a multiplayer game with anti-cheat driven by the vision of one person is step one in the slow decline into autocracy. Haven’t you ever read 1984?

You have essentially given kernel level access to a games company. That’s a line no software company should ever cross. Then they acknowledge they employ someone to actively manipulate the game as you play. There’s only one more small step to complete intrusion that you will never know about. But hey, do as you will, it’s your computer, your info.

Wrong. Read the article before you make stupid comments.

I agree with you and everyone trying to downplay the significance of Anti Cheat kernal access is misinformed to not think its concerning. My solution is, I only have games on my PC that don’t use anti cheat all the anti cheat games I have on a ps5 where you have no web browser to spy on.

Thats pretty much it - dont buy it, or have a specific machine with no personal info on it thats only used for video games. It’s incredible how readily people give up full access to their OS and hardware control and just trust an arbitrary company. Have we not been spied on enough? How many times does this lesson need to be taught? Gee wizz, I sure hope “Joel” can’t manipulate anything beyond the game itself and this company is trustworthy.
