Migrating internal web app to new server (new host, new IP). Don't want users to have to update their browser/desktop shortcuts. DNS?

We have cloned an internal web app server and have migrated it to a new hosting environment (all on same domain). We have many thousands of users throughout the org who have created their own web browser shortcuts and desktop shortcuts to access this (old) web app. Can I use DNS to redirect those shortcuts to the new server/URL?
