China is Australia’s largest trading partner, both in terms of total volume and trade balance. Despite this they join military alliances against China and fester rabid Sinophobia among themselves. It is not suprising considering that Australia is an American vassal state but I wonder what the consequences of this will be in the far-future.

US is forcing Australia to destroy their economy the same way as Europe. I think the goal from US perspective is to create a bloc and force the countries in their bloc to cut off trade with China and Russia, which ultimately forces them into dependency on US. And this is being accomplished through a combination of political pressure and military dependence.

Just sanctioning Russia created so much instability. I feel if they try this with China they are instantly gonna become third world countries.

For sure, Russia is an important commodity exporter globally, but China is absolutely essential in terms of manufacturing. There’s no replacement for China, and I completely agree that economic situation would deteriorate very rapidly if China was cut off. That said, US might see this as a positive because it will create cheap labor markets it can exploit.

Ever seen the documentary series known as “Mad Max”?

If that’s what it takes to decolonize the place, I can’t claim I’d be entirely against it.

Yep. Aussies are so racist that the US just needs to mention “Asians” and we’ll gladly destroy our own economy for the yanks. I’ve been stockpiling canned food because things are going to get really fucking bad for the average Australian in the next couple of years. Food is already 25-50% higher in price than it was 2 years ago, wouldn’t surprise me if it all has doubled by the end of the year. I fucking hate being a yankee vassal state.

The amount of rightwing nutjobs immediately blaming muslims or immigrants after the mass killing on Saturday was sickening. At the same time seeing some liberals blaming those racists on Russian/Chinese troll farms was equally eye opening.

Guy thinks South China Morning Post is “Communist Party Controlled”… it’s owned by Alibaba Group but anyone who reads that rag can see that they absolutely don’t bother ‘controlling’ it.

SCMP is very liberal and quite pro-Western. It’s not even aligned with the views of the CPC let alone controlled by it. I wouldn’t call it a rag as it does sometimes put out serious and important articles - it’s not CNN or BBC level propaganda trash - but its bias is unmistakeable.

Agreed they do have good articles and decent journalism even if I don’t agree with their politics a lot. Its still far better as a source for news on China than any western media.
