Today on Inside Star Citizen, we’ll show how we get our game on by playing with the Rastar tool to build an Underground Facility on Daymar.

I really love seeing behind the scenes footage of the map tools!

We noted their updates about Rastar in the monthly update, so it’s cool that it was expanded on in ISC this week. I like how seamless it makes things, adding location pieces around the landscape without breaking up the existing ground.

Pretty fun to see them build a location 😀 I’m still waiting to see the larger UGFs in game!

So wait… this replaces building blocks? I’m struggling to understand what is different about Rastar.

No, I think the UI uses building blocks. There doesn’t seem to be a whole lot that’s different about Rastar that wasn’t already covered 2 years ago at citizencon: https://youtu.be/fQkN1YdT6SI?t=491

I think maybe the original outposts were built without using this tool? It’s more feature complete now and so they’re using it to revamp all the existing bunkers. At the end of the day, nothing changes for the players besides the exterior layout of the area around the bunkers.

The only exciting thing about this video is where they talked about how the players would use this UI at some point in the future.

Base building is going to be great.

Yeah this is sort of a rehash, but the prospect of building a base that’s more interesting looking than the current outposts is a pretty cool possibility.
