Yeah I don’t feel like making yet another account for yet another service I don’t want. Just gonna request a refund and uninstall.
You don’t need to make a Sony account. You can skip that. Unless they just changed something…
Edit - I just saw another post confirming this. What the hell.
That seems extreme for a game requesting you make an account if you are otherwise enjoying the game.
No. Sony has a history of really fucking with people’s PC’s. Look into what they did with installing a rootkit on people’s computers in 2005. Also, do you have any idea how many launchers/DRM/anti-cheat software you would have on your system if gamers did not push back on companies at all? It would be like the 2000’s IE toolbar fiasco all over again.
Installing a rootkit on people’s computers in 2005.
Not to downplay the shitty situation with hd2, but uh, got any examples from the last 5 to 10 years instead of pointing to something that happened nearly two decades ago?
Looks reasonable for me, depending on how much information is required for creating a Sony account or how time-consuming it is to fabricate it (for example, unique, valid ad persistent email addresses don’t grow on trees).
It’s not reasonable. PSN isn’t available in every nation so some may be locked out of the game they paid for 4 months after the fact. That’s not even factoring in the privacy concerns
I mean… Just open a Gmail account for spam and tie it to that. Creating a PlayStation account takes less than 5 min. I don’t see why you need a high security email to associate with a video game account, but different strokes right?
Something like addy.io or simple login would let you create a unique email address that you can turn off and on as needed. No chance for spam, completely unique as to be able to remove the ability to track you elsewhere on the web.
I bought Sony Bluetooth earbuds recently, out of the box they wouldn’t connect. You have to download an app, and agree to their EULA which is essentially “Were gonna steal data about everything you listen to” before you can connect to them via Bluetooth. Returned them the same day. Fuck Sony.
The WF-1000XM5s? I bought those a couple months ago and I feel like I was gaslit by all the tech reviewers saying they were the best.
Admittedly, they sound amazing, but they have so many technical issues that they’re barely worth using. Connection issues constantly, noise cancelling popping in and out, they turn on and connect when they’re in the case in my pocket, it takes 40 minutes to update them, if it even works at all, and the app is SO BAD!
I feel like I was bamboozled into paying a premium for bad earbuds.
I’ve had none of those issues, nor the one described above with Sony earbuds. They’re the fastest connecting, least often disconnecting earbuds I’ve ever had. What device are you connecting them to? Could at least explain some of the connections issues you’re having if it doesn’t support the newer codecs it prefers.
Pixel 8 pro, so yes, it supports everything. And the issues I’ve had are ones people have been complaining about for a long time. There are numerous reddit threads about them.
Don’t have these issues with any other devices.
They were the WF-500’s. I have a high end pair of Bose earbuds for music, but for audiobooks at work I just wanted something decent. What really got me to return them is I couldn’t use them single ear and have controls. Bought some Monster brand Chinese earbuds for dirt cheap, it’s my third pair from this brand and for the most part I get a good 18 months out of them before they have connection issues or the battery doesn’t last.
This sucks, cause Arrowhead is gonna catch some unneeded flak for it, but it’s almost purely a Sony plot for data, and Arrowhead and the players are the ones who lose.
Well, at least I no longer have to waffle about whether I want to buy the game or not. This makes it an easy no.
It wasn’t the kernel level anti cheat from a lesser known company being required to play that made it a hard no?
My whole game broke yesterday right when Arrowhead made the announcement, because it turns out they pushed a micro update to Steam players that includes a .DLL that is identified as malware by most 3rd part antivirus.
So, sadly, after 350 hours of fun, Helldivers is staying uninstalled until Arrowhead reverses course on this Sony bullshit.
