I had a feeling they’ll put something like this, so I went in every now and then to see how infinity will react. I really loved the app, devs did an amazing job

Missed opportunity. These third-party apps could have updated on 1 July to support Lemmy only. Instead, they wish to continue the abusive relationship with Reddit while making believe that it’s the only option.

They can support both…Only 1 takes considerably more effort and with a tiny fraction of the userbase to sell it to.

Re-writing the app to support a different site isn’t a small undertaking, so I don’t blame devs if that isn’t on their immediate roadmap.

Some devs, such as those of Sync and RIF have already said apps for other sites are in development, too. Sync for Lemmy and RIF for Tildes.

Then there are new apps entirely that will arrive built for the new sites. Jerboa is great already, even with the extremely short time it’s had to be developed in.

Yeah, I use Jerboa, it’s been great.

For those developers who remain committed to Reddit only, competing against the house isn’t viable, you can’t win. The rules will change again.

Props to them if they can make it work where other much bigger apps have failed. I assume this will also fail.

I accidentally logged out of Sync this morning. Can’t be bothered to log back in.

I know how you feel. Best way to describe it is I miss what Reddit was, but don’t miss what it’s become. It’s all finally starting to hit home that it’s dead though. The queen is dead, long live the king.

if the API price was different I’d understand going subscription based, but given the Reddit requests, going this path looks like naive business choice, or maybe the devs simply do not want to accept the reality lol

Same thing with Relay for Reddit. I loved the app, even had a pro license. But I just don’t love them or Reddit enough to pay a subscription fee.
