I liked how this crow was just hanging out with a nice view in the background, so I thought this might give a good photo.

American crow, seen yesterday in Boulder, CO, USA.

I’m no birdologist, but if you’re watching wild birds I believe you can describe your current act as birding.

Shit, you don’t even have to see them. Birding by ear counts too!

I like birding by Merlin, go for a walk, have Merlin on in your pocket, concentrate on the looking and spotting as you walk, then when you finish you get a surprise long eared owl notification.

True! There was a time my father would get home from work and just listen to bird songs CDs. Just seeing his joy and enjoying hearing nature myself made me consider field recording too

The trees filled out way too early this year. It’s already to the point where most of my birding is done by ear. Silver lining is that there’s insects to look down at now while listening.

Unless you see a roseate spoonbill off it’s migratory path, it’s just sparkling voyeurism.

One of the things I love about birding is you can do it pretty much anywhere. All (not captive) birds count.

Feel free to share your photos and other birding-related content here. If a photo you post isn’t yours, please credit the original creator! Additionally, it would be appreciated if the location of the sighting and a date were given when a photo or question is posted. You do not have to give the precise location, something like “Northern Idaho, June 2023” or even “North-Western US, June 2023” suffices.
