publicly announcing transactions you’ve made with people is the worst feature I’ve seen on a payment app. Fucking insane.

“Haha, for drugs!”

What do you mean I’m suspected of selling drugs?!

The whole social aspect of Venmo is one of the stupidest things to have ever been created. I use Venmo because it’s the most widely used platform, but all of my transactions are private.

Do people even scroll through the public feed of their friends? Why does anyone care that their friend paid another friend (who they likely don’t even know) $10 for a burger and fries? So fucking dumb.

I’m always surprised by how many people buy eggplants with their friends.

It’s weird you mention that, my girlfriend keeps getting eggplants bought for her on her Venmo and it’s kind of cool and all, but she doesn’t even use the money for veggies, lol.

I use venmo only sparingly, but whenever I do I take a peek at that page, and see mostly old college friends I no longer talk to paying people I dont know for pizza or rent or whatever. It always feels creepy.

I recently made a Venmo account. I guess I’m just old but the public transactions thing is so weird to me. Feels like the newer generations are being tricked into giving up their privacy.

If you haven’t done so already, you can make transactions private by default.

Yep, already did. It was the first thing I did after seeing my friend’s whole transaction history.

They’ve never had privacy. Their parents monitored everything down to what they were masterbating to.
