I tried hard not to like Taylor Swift, but her songs are just too damn catchy.

I’ve always understood how people like her, but I’ve never understood the sheer level of obsession. I’m not above liking some generic pop, but it’s not gonna be what I have on repeat.

Michael Jackson, Elvis, George Michael, Madonna. Solo artists on that level always generate a fair bit of… extreme fandom, you could say.

I think musically they were more interesting. However, perhaps George Michael when in wham! counts. However, the extreme fandom is probably unrelated to the music and more the hype and shared experience.

That’s exactly why I don’t like them.

I always do the goat scream if my wife has it on, its our fun little thing.

Until we were doing a late night grocery run when our baby was having a sleepover at Nannys place and my sleep deprived ass goes and does it in the middle of the fresh produce. 2 people looked at me like I was mentally Ill and one guy pissed himself laughing, my wife was mortified and angry.

Lol, if you have a baby, your wife is going to become less and less embarrassed by you in public. Kids say some crazy stuff. Often rude and insensitive. Your lack of filter will be quaint by comparison.

So fly your crazy flag high. Enjoy your Taytay and goat scream away.

Also, congratulations on child and even bigger congratulations on having babysitters help for a night off. Next time, don’t use it for grocery shopping, lol.

I don’t know her music and only hear about her in the news. Is their an album that is musically interesting, good composition, good musicians, innovative instrumentation? I don’t care about lyrics.

No. It’s all fluff. There’s worse fluff out there, but it’s all fluff.

1989 was probably the only one I bothered with and that was for the instrumentation. Had a nice “driving at night” almost vaporwave feel to some of the tracks, specifically Style. Would I call it innovative? Or terribly interesting? Not really, no. It was palatable and had a few tracks i could enjoy.

I know her music pretty well, having raised two daughters over the past 20 years

Personally, my favorite of her albums is Folklore. It’s closest to the indie sound I enjoy
