It’s just range anxiety and inertia.

Rural folks don’t want to “use an app to plan longer journeys”.

I bet rural folks drive pretty old vehicles in general, compared to suburban folks.

It’ll come. It just takes time, and this group isn’t built for rapid change.

Edit a f150 lightning is by far the best contender right now, for those that can afford the entry price

I’m a rural driver, I live about 30 miles away from town. Personally I really want an affordable small electric with a real world range around 100 miles so I can make it to town and a few stops and back without any concern, something like a Honda e. I’d just continue using my existing gas car for the once a month or so driving indo longer than that range and cut the vast majority of my remaining fossil fuel use (my house has overproduced solar for years and should cover much of my driving).

Unfortunately there aren’t really any cars for sale here that are what I want. I’ve been considering getting my motorcycle license and an electric motorcycle instead.
