Curious if other Spotify users are using the DJ feature. Can’t decide if I like it or not yet.
I use both the weekly playlist and the dj. I like both of them.
I’ve determined it’s not for me. I enjoy the discovery of music, and don’t listen to the charts, but it felt like it only played things I already knew, and things I didn’t enjoy. It also was very predictable for me, and that really killed the concept of having an AI DJ for me.
I’m having a similar experience! It was great a couple of times and then I realized it kept going back to similar groups of songs. Do you use any of the other Spotify features for discovery? like the auto-generated ‘Discover Weekly’ playlists and whatnot
I do, but my listening habit do tend to ruin that a lot of times. There are active sessions where I’ll sit down and listen to music, and the more often passive sessions where just want something playing while I work. It can’t differentiate between the two, and I’m too lazy to switch to private mode every time, so I get a bunch of lame recommendations a lot of times in discover weekly. I made a post here about an hour ago and at the playlist community explaining where I find music on Spotify. I do also use the radios to find similar sounds if I’m trying to do a deeper dive on a genre as well.
I use rateyourmusic.com as a main source of discovering music for my active sessions though.
I like the novelty of hearing a seemingly human voice say my name and the names of my obscure bands, but after a while I think the recommendations get weird: “here’s some 50s Latin American music for you”. Like OK that’s interesting but maybe not what I want to hear on my morning drive. I think with some tweaks to make it more personal and give better recommendations, it could be a great feature
