It’s literally one of the stupid arguments against veganism. Even if plants did feel pain it takes a hell of a lot more plants to feed farmed animals which carnists then eat alongside other plants meaning it would just be another argument for veganism anyway.

They do feel stress when being eaten, and healthy plants react to hearing animals eat plants nearby.

This article says they scream ultrasonically, but it sounds more like simple pressure release when cut open than a stress or pain response.
