Most of media is liberal or downright fash, IE multiple literal races in fantasy, pacifism at all costs, individualism like superheroes, etc. There was a Kim Jong Un quote floating around about how all art should tie back to the revolution, which I agree with, even in a roundabout way, but almost all the media I’ve been bathed in has been reactionary af.

What are some pitfalls to avoid, so I don’t accidentally draw what amounts to a swastika? Is there a 7 basic plots for commies? I’ve already read some anarchist and vaguely socialist fiction (have not found anything ML) but some recommendations would be nice as well.

You should read Unjust Depths, the communist undersea mecha space opera.

Thanks, I think I’ll do just that, you’re not the first person to recommend it to me.

I recently read China Mieville’s Bas Lag trilogy, which was very well done pro-union, basically communist propaganda. Iain Bank’s Culture Series is great Falgsc. There’s a whole bunch of stuff collected on this link. I always recommend anything by Boots Riley and then the show Damnation, if you can find it.

Imo, you can basically follow the hero’s journey and build a good revolutionary story; I mean, literary-wise, the whole point of them are to confront unjust traditions of the past through a metaphorical struggle in a fantasy world, gain a boon by defeating those injustices, and then integrate that boon back into the real world. The structure is a metaphor for how your brain processes the lesson.

Personally, I like the idea of just running typical cliche slop, but in a Communist setting in order to normalize communism. In the same way Marvel did the MCU by using their IP in different movie genres we absolutely need that but in a leftist setting. Like a coming of age movie where a trans kid and an indigenous kid just want to make a name for themselves before leaving their hometown and joining the communist party academy or some shit. Ya know?
