I don’t stutter or fuck up my speech over a text.

YES I hate phone calls SO MUCH. If I had a nickel for every opportunity I missed out on because I had to make a phone call and I just froze up … well I wouldn’t be a millionaire but I’d probably have like $69 extra.

To me calling someone seems rude, because the caller demands immediate time from the callee and interrupt them in what they are doing, even if it is only about forcing them to make the decision of picking up, or ignoring the call.

While texting lets the receiver chose when they want to read their message just like the sender when they want to send it. Receivers can still read the message whenever they have some time without missing anything.

I agree. My worst issue at work is being in the middle of something when the phone rings because somebody has a question and doesn’t know how to use google.

Then I’m thrown off of whatever it was I was doing for like 15 minutes after the phone rings. I can’t ever seem to just get back into it. Often once I do the phone rings immediately and I have to start over. It’s infuriating.

I’m all about using the right medium and besides the social awkwardness phone calls are usually a pretty bad medium for information transfer. They are prone to miscommunication and since they are ephemeral a lot of memory related issues after the fact.

Text on the other hand: nice paper trail, easily searchable if you forget, no accent/interference based miscommunication, less constant attention required…Just better overall most of the time.

I used to. It was curable via exposure for me. Had to do it at work a lot and just got used to it.
