First full Saturday of the 2024 college football season is underway. Discuss!
Nebraska vs UTEP
That Raiola pass gives me hope. The penalties to set up 2nd and 30 do not.
I was expecting some more scoring out of the Georgia/Clemson game.
Chattanooga vs Tennessee
Non ironically though, I love Heup. Just called time out to get the ball back with just under 2 minutes in the first half while up 45-0. Most coaches would let the Mocs burn clock right there
The mercy rule was invoked in the Auburn vs. Alabama A&M game. Last two quarters will be 10 minutes each. Tigers were up 52-3 at the half.
I didnβt even know college football had a mercy ruleβ¦
I wonder what the exact rule is, Vols were up 48-0 at half and I donβt think we employed any such rule
Edit: it seems that both coaches have to agree to it, but it can happen at any point, see below:
- The National Collegiate Athletic Associationβs mercy rule provides, βAny time during the game, the playing time of any remaining period or periods and the intermission between halves may be shortened by mutual agreement of the opposing head coaches and the referee.β (NCAA Football Rule 3-2-2-a)
Florida vs Miami
LOL, aβight. Iβm out. Too old to pretend thereβs value in watching an overmatched and undermotivated team. Billy better figure shit out.
Catching bits of this during the ad breaks in the Texas game, rooting for the Canes. But man, the new ABC score bug is hideous
Yup, and some straight up cowardice after that last sack. Iβve been preaching patience with Billy, but they need to pass the eye test better this year and particularly they need to look well coached, and Iβm not sure I see it.
Cam Ward looking like the real deal, and what a weird developmental path players have now.
