I had to take three courses of history and it seems like we never talked about the rest of the world at the time. Was Vietnam and Civil Unrest really that big in America where we thought that is what was all going on and forgot about the rest of the world?

Our involvement in Vietnam was prolonged, so there’s quite a bit you could go over if you’d a mind to. The Czechoslovakia crisis, in which Soviet forces crushed a socialist government in, uh, Czechoslovakia, might be of interest. The Six-Day War and Yom Kippur War between Israel and various Arab states occurred in this period as well. Idi Amin came to power in Uganda, the Carnation Revolution in Portugal was brewing (or blooming, ha), the Years of Lead in Italy were starting up, Turkiye went through two coups…

The Troubles in Northern Ireland started in about '68, and lasted (officially) until '98.
