Is soybean oil used for stuff that isn’t basically ultraprocessed crap? A huge amount is made but I only ever see it listed as an ingredient on packaged junk food in aus.

I think that the generic “vegetable oil” listed in many ingredient lists is usually soybean oil.

Not sure. My local supermarket doesn’t have soybeans (edamame) tho, because they allocate it elsewhere.

We gotta pump up those tofu numbers!

I swear tofu has the worst marketing of all time. It is as close to a magic food as possible and a lot of people are totally convinced to never even try it because of literally ridiculous reasons.

Tofu: Entire class of foods that have provided rich nutrition, texture, and flavour for everyone from poor rural farmers to emperors. Used for millenia.

Tofu’s perception outside of asia: bland jelly that makes you weak.

The “tofu isn’t masculine and is for the weak” thing is deeply funny, even aside from all the pro-masculine stuff in there. All my muscles are from tofu-gains, and there are vegan bodybuilders who bulked up on tofu.
