Such a nightmare. 'is it a home or work account, a school amount, sorry you can’t use it on this OS but we won’t tell you that… No you can’t use your usb mic, Bluetooth headset go click click click, type your seven digit code we send you - sends six digits, no your organisation controls this amount - IDGAF that you own the domain name pleb ’

This piece of **** software really makes my life miserable every day.

The interface is full of emoji and stickers like a stupid tiktok knock off but the single most used feature in corporate environment is totally broken. I’m referring of course to the mind bending complicated copy+paste.

So instead of copying that annoying co-worker’s message, I end up sending him a ❤️ instead.

Way to go, Microsoft.

The Windows OS doesn’t survive the encounter either.

In fact, Linux fares much better. But better still is to keep that boi sandboxed in a real (non MS) browser.

I also get minor panics myself when I have the displeasure of needing to use it. Don’t want it tainting my OS, so been running it in Firefox lately.

It feels so dirty having to install Zoom or Chrome on my boy.

As a Firefox enjoyer it really feels bad to keep Brave around just to use Teams. Not that I have any problem with Brave just, if a billion dollar company can’t be bothered to make a native Linux app that’s fine (it’s not) but could they at least support the major browsers?

FOSS for the win. I always avoid installing proprietary stuff unless it’s the only option.

I’ve told several external contacts if they cannot reschedule on something other than Zoom. They usually oblige with Teams. Which, has worked OK on Firefox and Linux so far.

2. Be civil
  • Understand the difference between a joke and an insult.
  • Do not harrass or attack members of the community for any reason.
  • Leave remarks of “peasantry” to the PCMR community. If you dislike an OS/service/application, attack the thing you dislike, not the individuals who use it. Some people may not have a choice.
  • Bigotry will not be tolerated.
  • These rules are somewhat loosened when the subject is a public figure. Still, do not attack their person or incite harrassment.
3. Post Linux-related content
  • Including Unix and BSD.
  • Non-Linux content is acceptable as long as it makes a reference to Linux. For example, the poorly made mockery of sudo in Windows.
  • No porn. Even if you watch it on a Linux machine.
