I get that โ€˜donghuaโ€™ is animated motion picture, and โ€˜manhuaโ€™ is picture books

Wikipedia says โ€˜danmeiโ€™ is gay-themed novels, but other people seem to say it for any sort of Chinese web novel? Confused.

Whatโ€™s a cultivation genre good web novel to get started?

Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation was fun.

Martial World is a long webnovel that I actually think encapsulates a lot of features of the cultivation genre, though it does have its share of brainworms and anime bullshit, like the main character having multiple wives and a few problematic scenes involving them. It does spill a lot of digital ink on the progression of the main character through cultivation realms, which is the shit I live for. Itโ€™s the long-running shounen version of the genre, imo (while I have some titles under my belt, I donโ€™t know too awful many).

I havenโ€™t read Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation as mentioned, but I did watch the donghua and found it quite good, though I donโ€™t remember anything about itโ€™s progression system. A great option for a more drama-oriented entry. BL (I also only know danmei as BL).

I remember really liking The Dragon, which is GL, though it may also be more a fun and dramatic romance set in a cultivation setting than a cultivation novel.

Girlโ€™s Love so lesbian. Yuri, baihe, etc. BL is Boyโ€™s Love. Yaoi, Danmei.

Iโ€™ve been enjoying reading Cultivation Chat Group. It is a cultivation novel but it also kind of mocks the genre in a friendly way.

Because reading from a website may not be that comfortable you can consider an app such as QuickNovel (available on F-Droid) or similar to download and read the chapters offline and save progress locally.

Remove All American Media And Culture From Your Life

Anti-imperialist comm to help you in your personal journey of cultural anti-imperialism.

American culture has spread all over the world, it has dumbed down and impoverished our variegated pre-colonial and non-capitalist cultures. Every time you yank yourself, a bit of their culture worms its way into your mind. Sometimes itโ€™s explicit propaganda like Top Gun, but sometimes itโ€™s subtle: the contempt shown for the poor, the celebration of selfishness, the value-system of their empire.

All inputs enter the mind, are absorbed, and blossom as thoughts and deeds. Mass-produced culture dulls you and makes you a boring, mass-produced personality. And nations are losing their personality by letting one imperial power do this to them.

That the empire is doing this as a more-or-less deliberate tool of influence doesnโ€™t need stressing.

Stop doing this to yourself. Donโ€™t watch their television. Donโ€™t watch their films. Donโ€™t read their stupid news and politics: ABC and CNN and NBC and the rest. Donโ€™t be so fucking boring. You donโ€™t have to be boring and stupid. Turn off your TV. Pick up some of your countryโ€™s classic books, or listen to African funk, or go to a storytelling night.
