Is uTorrent still a viable option? Or is there something else you’d recommend?

Avoid uTorrent and use qBittorrent instead (not to be confused with BitTorrent, a client by the same team as uTorrent)

qBittorrent ftw. It is open source and is being maintained and developed.

qBittorrent’s what I use, Deluge is good unless you’re planning on seeding more than a few hundred torrents (like if you’re in a private tracker), transmission’s good.

Do not use uTorrent. All private trackers have it banned because it misreports and has bad development practices. Further, it has ads.

I’d recommend qBittorrent but there’s a bunch out there, the approved clients list to my most active Private Tracker lists Deluge, KTorrent, rtorrent, PicoTorrent, qBittorrent, Synapse, Tixati, Transmission.

uTorrent has bundled a cryptominer with the software in the past, so they are untrustworthy. I’d recommend using qBitTorrent or checking the megathread for other options.

I second this. Used qbit for years and can confirm it’s amazing.
