So they’re going to use up their last available reserves in a desperate and pointless assault whereafter they still get curbstomped by their opponent who still maintains air superiority and controls large amounts of armoured reserves?

Sounds about right.

To be fair, it’s not like they had any real choice here. The regime in Ukraine is entirely dependent on western support to function. That means they can’t be seen to be losing by their western sponsors. When the front started to buckle in the east, they had to draw attention away from that, hence the Kursk stunt.

Ah, yes, just like the Battle of the Bulge. Gather up all your last best men, make a small momentary dent on an irrelevant front so you can pat yourself on the back for finally making gains, and then ultimately lose the battle anyway.

I’m from the USSR and I had a yank tell me I’d be speaking German if not for murica.

I said I only speak a bit of German but wish I spoke it better so he went on to painstakingly explain what WW2 was.

It was kinda funny but less so than I thought it’d be.
