The weather forecast for the weekend makes for interesting reading, with rain expected to hit the track on all three days of running in Austria.
FRIDAY, JUNE 30 – FP1 AND QUALIFYING
Conditions: Expected to be sunny in the morning but with increased chance of rain hitting the track in the afternoon. FP1: 24°C // Q: 21°C.
Chance of rain: 60%
SATURDAY, JULY 1 – SPRINT SHOOTOUT AND SPRINT
Conditions: High chance of showers in the afternoon with possible thunderstorms. SS: 20°C // SPRINT: 19°C.
Chance of rain: 80%
SUNDAY, JULY 2 – RACE WEATHER
Conditions: Partly cloudy in the morning with a slight chance of rain hitting the race in the afternoon. RACE: 24°C
Chance of rain: 20%
Rain makes everything more interesting. Preferably it would rain at times causing a hassle in the pits.
If the sprint is mixed wet/dry it might mean we get first interesting sprint race ever!
Living abt 200km away, we had ~10min medium showers followed by ~30min sunshine for 3 times for abt 2hrs… And it was just so that when everything had completely dried up, it started raining again… That would have been insane conditions for Spielberg during the race.
A lot of rain affected sessions lately! I remember a few years ago where it didn’t rain in any qualifying or race for more than an entire season.
Rain would make things interesting, but the “boring me” would also like a weekend without complications (especially red flags) for once.
