I have noticed that some users here don’t have time to watch videos. I think on most of the video links I share here, there are always users commenting that it is better to read an article than watching this video. To be honest, I don’t like all this complaining. It is kind of annoying.

So to make the users who dont have time to watch a video happy. Post a tldw summary. You dont have to write it yourself or anything. Just use chatgpt or something similar.

I have also noticed that there is better engagement and discussions when a tldw is posted.

Exactly: a large chunk of the time, videos seem to simply be a way to stretch the content that could be a bullet list into a not-easily-parseable mess of content sandwiched into “Hey lovely people… Don’t forget to SMASH that like and subscribe button!”

Sometimes videos are done well, but an annoying number of them are just attempts to monetize fluid content with a lot of padding; they’re like the recipe blogs of the video world.

Besides lack of time, a TL;DW is also neat for people who are proficient only in the written language, but not the spoken one.

I don’t usually watch videos because when I use Lemmy I’m in my phone and listening to the music.

I don’t want my music to stop so I can watch a video of 10 minutes with a list of Patreons, a paid sponsor, links to other videos of the channel and an actual minute with worthy information.

I often use online media at a time when using headphones isn’t an option and I depend on subtitles it TLDW.

I usually don’t have headphones handy and don’t want the noise (or already am watching something else passively)

I pretty much bounce off any video link so a dinner is a big help (and may even get me to take the effort to watch the video)
