What is the possible reason why upvotes in Kbin do not add up to the overall Reputation, but downvotes do?
@ernest this keeps coming up over and over, I don’t know if a fix is being worked on but perhaps just disable reputation till a fix is ready?
@NotAPenguin It looks like its fixed?! 15 minutes ago or so Kbin was offline for a few minutes and now my Reputation seems to be calculated correctly. Jumped up from 5 to over 400. Could you confirm that? Yours shows to me over 1200.
Vulcan can confirm that your reputation points are looking normal, with 1271 and 482 respectively.
Looks like it’s fixed now with Vulcan reputation point is 1661 right now.
I just counted all my upvotes and it matches my rep now.
It counts boosts but not favouroites (favourites in activitypub are treated as upvotes). A change will be coming at some point to fix this.
@HidingCat This would be good. BTW I just clicked by accident my own replies boost and it counts as Reputation too. Is that a bug or unwanted feature? Can’t imagine this being a design choice.
On Reddit, when you post or comment, that will automatically have 1 upvote. That is not done here so you should updoot yourself.
@1chemistdown In this reply, I didn’t meant the upvote, but the boost (which is basically the share option). But the boost will add to Reputation. And I can boost myself.
So in short in Kbin currently:
- upvote does not count as Reputation,
- downvote count as Repuation,
- and boost (share) count as Repuation.
It is easier in mass to upvote or downvote without spamming the system. Boost option won’t be used as much. So the ratio for self regulation is lost.
That’s one area where Reddit made the right choice. You shouldn’t be able to updoot yourself, but if you can, you definitely shouldn’t have to manually updoot yourself. It should either be automatic, or not possible. Voting up one’s own posts feels dirty, but if you risk your post not being seen by not doing it, you kind of have to. It’s a weird mechanic.
they do now mfer
