I like Fairphone’s mission but kinda feel meh about their execution. Don’t get me wrong they probably do better than everyone else. But releasing a phone per year isn’t great for the environment. Removing the headphone jack wasn’t for ecological reasons. Making tiny earbuds isn’t in hand with easy reparability. And you can’t upgrade anything !
I wish they will slow the pace for a release every 2 years with better upgradability. I also wish they would work with GrapheneOS so the hardware and firmware are secure enough for the Graphene team to work on that device.
But nice that the brand is still alive. I hope they won’t go too much into green washing.
from what I see, their release cycle is roughly 2 years

Really curious about this one! I (sadly) love iOS too much to switch, but I’m totally rooting for Fairphone :)
The main thing is app quality. Software is just way nicer, more stable and smoother on iOS (which makes sense since the App Store is more profitable than the Play Store, so developers focus on it first instead). I don’t even use Apple services so I’m not tied to their ecosystem, I’m mainly thinking about third party apps here.
I get an Android phone from time to time hoping I’m gonna like it enough, unfortunately it’s never happened yet. Last one was a Pixel 7 but I didn’t really like the hardware (it was way too big, the camera was disappointing and the speakers sounded really mid, even compared to my 5 year old iPhone). I could get used to the software but I just don’t enjoy it as much as iOS, so it’s not really motivating
